The ceremony was held in honour of The Honourable Judge George Arestis (Ret’d), a former judge of the Supreme Court of Cyprus and the first Cypriot judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union from 2004 to 2014.

Guests of honour and orators at the ceremony included: His Excellency Mr Justice Myron Nicolatos, President of the Supreme Court of Cyprus; the Honourable José Luís Da Cruz Vilaça, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union and President of FIDE; the Honourable Constantinos Lycourgos, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union; and Mr. Xenios Xenopoulos, President of the Cyprus Association of European Law and former President of FIDE.
