3rd Law Fair “Become a Lawyer for a Day”

On the 10th March 2018, the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus held its third Law Fair entitled “Become a Lawyer for a Day.” This was organised by academics and students of the School, for the benefit of school pupils and their teachers who were invited to participate in several pre-determined activities, taylor-made for youngsters between 16 and 19 years old. These included an introduction to Criminal Law entitled ‘How to get away with murder’, a workshop on ‘Human Rights and safe internet’ as well as ‘Mooting: the art of advocacy and the pursuit of justice’. The full programme of the day can be downloaded here. The aim of all three activities was to allow participants to work, in a creative way, on understanding the meaning of some of the basic skills and subject areas in the field of law. All activities had an open question-and-answer session with members of the School. Participants were able to ask an array of questions regarding the legal profession, including over lunch which was provided to all participants. Certificates of participation were delivered to over 50 participants and their teachers.

The School of Law would like to thank its academics, students as well as the many participants to the various activities who came from all over Cyprus to enjoy the day with us and share their enthusiasm for law studies. The School wishes them all the best of luck in their future careers and hopes to see them again next year at the 4th edition of the Law Fair.
