UCLan Cyprus Hosts the 17th BRIT Conference
Between 26 and 28th May 2025, UCLan Cyprus hosted the 17th Border Regions in Transition conference. This is a conference that is organized every two years in institutions all around the world, bringing scholars dealing with border studies together. The conference, which was co-funded by UCLan Cyprus, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) Cyprus Centre, and the Estonian Research Council, had 130 participants and included 34 panels.
The conference was followed by two field trips – one in Nicosia and another in Famagusta – where themes relevant to the scholars’ research interests were discussed.
The key organisers of the conference were Dr Nasia Hadjigeorgiou, Associate Professor in Transitional Justice and Human Rights at UCLan Cyprus, and Professor Eiki Berg, Professor of International Relations Theory at the University of Tartu.
