British Council Alumni UK Global Program, Study UK Alumni Awards and Networking Reception at UCLan Cyprus

On Monday 5 May 2025 UCLan Cyprus, and the British Council in Cyprus, held an Alumni UK gathering and networking reception at the UCLan Cyprus campus, celebrating UK Alumni in Cyprus, with speeches by the British High Commissioner in Cyprus, Mr Michael Tatham CMG, the Director of the British Council in Cyprus, Ms Anastasia Andritsou, and the EU Regional Alumni UK Ambassador, Mr Alexandros Charkiolakis. On this occasion, Alumni UK Global program and Study UK Alumni Awards were presented. UK alumni role models in their fields, from UCLan Cyprus and other UK universities, were also present, to inspire participants by sharing their success stories and experiences from participation to British Council’s and other UK Alumni programs. Among UK alumni who took the floor were Professor of European Law and Reform and Head of the School of Law, UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou, Finalist of first UK alumni awards Cyprus, as well as Visiting Professor, University of Kent and Research Associate, London School of Economics, Prof. James Ker-Lindsay.

Following welcomes and other speeches at the British University of Cyprus, as well as experiences shared as to what being UK alumni supported by British universities and the British Council means, a networking reception followed attended by UCLan Cyprus CEO and Chair of the Council, Mr Floros Voniatis as well as UK alumni and professionals from across a range of UK universities, engaging with students and young alumni from UCLan Cyprus and elsewhere, at different stages of their career. UCLan Cyprus operates under the academic umbrella of UCLan UK, and further to the political changes in the UK following BREXIT, it is considered a unique University based in the EU, bridging the UK and Europe in terms of research, academic standards, student experience and student exchange. The successful completion of studies at UCLan Cyprus results in a double-awarded degree (two certificates) from the two Universities, UCLan UK and UCLan Cyprus, recognised not only in Cyprus and the UK, but also in the EU, across Europe and beyond. Our students and alumni have the advantage of an exceptional student experience in every aspect of their university life, whether it is learning, personal support, facilities, accommodation, employability and social life, as well as personal development.

We are happy to report that over the years, the British Council in Cyprus has been very supportive of UCLan Cyprus and other UK universities students, by co-organising student competitions, student skills trainings, professional sessions and award ceremonies at the UCLan Cyprus premises, open to all. Δεξίωση Συγκέντρωσης και Δικτύωσης των αποφοίτων του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου από το British Council και το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus

Τη Δευτέρα, 5 Μαΐου 2025 το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus και το British Council στην Κύπρο διοργάνωσαν δεξίωση συγκέντρωσης και δικτύωσης των αποφοίτων του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου στις εγκαταστάσεις του Βρετανικού Πανεπιστημίου της Κύπρου στη Λάρνακα, γιορτάζοντας τους Βρετανούς αποφοίτους στην Κύπρο, με ομιλίες του Βρετανού Ύπατου Αρμοστή στην Κύπρο,  κ. Michael Tatham CMG, της Διευθύντριας του British Council στην Κύπρο, κα Αναστασία Ανδρίτσου, και του Περιφερειακού Πρέσβη Αποφοίτων της ΕΕ στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, κ. Αλέξανδρο Χαρκιολάκη. Με την ευκαιρία αυτή, παρουσίασαν το πρόγραμμα Alumni UK Global και τα Study UK Alumni Awards. Παρόντες στην εκδήλωση ήταν και απόφοιτοι Πανεπιστημίων του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου , καθώς και απότο Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus εμπνέοντας τους συμμετέχοντες και μοιράζοντας τις ιστορίες επιτυχίας και τις εμπειρίες τους από τη συμμετοχή τους σε προγράμματα αποφοίτων του British Council Μεταξύ των αποφοίτων του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου που έλαβαν το λόγο ήταν η Καθηγήτρια Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαίου και Μεταρρύθμισης και Επικεφαλής της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, Καθηγήτρια Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou, Φιναλίστ των πρώτων βραβείων αποφοίτων του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου στην Κύπρο το 2024, καθώς και ο Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής, Πανεπιστήμιο του Kent και Ερευνητικός Συνεργάτης, London School of Economics, Καθηγητής James Ker-Lindsay.

Aκολούθησε δεξίωση δικτύωσης στην οποία παρευρέθηκαν επαγγελματίες από διάφορα πανεπιστήμια του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, με φοιτητές και αποφοίτους από το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus και άλλα πανεπιστήμια.

Το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus λειτουργεί κάτω από την ακαδημαϊκή ομπρέλα του UCLan UK, και πέρα από τις πολιτικές αλλαγές στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο μετά το BREXIT, θεωρείται ένα μοναδικό Πανεπιστήμιο με έδρα την ΕΕ, γεφυρώνοντας το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και την Ευρώπη όσο αφορά την έρευνα, τα ακαδημαϊκά πρότυπα, την εμπειρία των φοιτητών και την ανταλλαγή φοιτητών. Η επιτυχής ολοκλήρωση των σπουδών στο Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus έχει ως αποτέλεσμα την διπλή απονομή πτυχίου (δύο πιστοποιητικά) από τα δύο Πανεπιστήμια, UCLan UK και UCLan Cyprus, αναγνωρισμένα στην Κύπρο, το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειοτην  Ευρώπη και σε διεθνές επίπεδο., Οι φοιτητές και οι απόφοιτοί μας έχουν το πλεονέκτημα μιας εξαιρετικής φοιτητικής εμπειρίας σε κάθε πτυχή της πανεπιστημιακής τους ζωής, είτε πρόκειται για μάθηση, προσωπική υποστήριξη, εγκαταστάσεις, διαμονή, απασχολησιμότητα και κοινωνική ζωή, καθώς και προσωπική ανάπτυξη.
