The award ceremony of the Business Idea Competition 2013 has been a celebration of enterprise with aspiring entrepreneurs presenting their business ideas to entrepreneurs and supporters of venturing. The ceremony started with a presentation by Kostas Sisamos, founder of Engino, who spoke about the entrepreneurial development of his company, which is successful and continues to invest in innovation despite the prolonged financial crisis. Following , award winners presented their ventures to entrepreneurship enthusiasts and business angels .
Top award, sponsored by Alpha Bank, has been won by Patricia Fritsch of EnaRodi, a dedicated service to support surveying and using donation to charity as an incentive for enhancing participation in surveys.
Other award winning ventures included “StudentLife.com”, “Frontistirio.com”, and “Agora.com.cy”
This initiative has been orchestrated by the pioneering Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Research (CEDAR) of UCLAN Cyprus, in partnership with a number of local and international stakeholder organisations with an interest in the promotion of creative innovations and new venture development. “The entrepreneurialism of our youngsters is a testimony that the next generation can master the challenges of our times and open new horizons for social and economic development “, said Professor Panikkos Poutziouris leading the initiative.
CEDAR announced their next community action which will be an one day training on how to start-up new ventures.
