Business Idea Competition 2014-Award Ceremony

Award Ceremony for Enterprising Ideas Competition

UCLAN Cyprus, the Enterprising British University in Larnaka, is hosting at the Pyla Campus on Tuesday 11th November 2014, 5:00-7:30pm the award ceremony for the Business Idea Competition 2014.

The event is under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and is featured under the flagship of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. It promises to be a celebration of smart business enterprisers competing for accolades and blessing from the from  business angels , hopefully to fund their entrepreneurial development.

The Business Idea Competition is an annual initiative led by CEDAR – Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Research of UCLAN Cyprus and has been orchestrated in cooperation with a number of stakeholder organisations that include: Cyprus University of Technology, University of Cyprus, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CYTA, Junior Chamber International (Cyprus), KOGEE – Cyprus Federation of Business and Professional Women, Anaptixiaki – ANETEL, and UK based EPISTEME and the UK Cyprus Enterprise Council.

The ceremony will start with a testimonial presentation by Zedem Media, an internationally recognised and awarded video production firm. Following will the presentation of the nominated teams who will be judged the Jury comprising  professionals and entrepreneurs. The winning business ideas will then be honoured.

Accolades for winning teams include:  1st Award: €1,500 sponsored by KPMG; 2nd Award:  €500 sponsored by Alpha Bank; Young Enterpriser Award: €500 sponsored by UCLan Cyprus MBA. The three winning teams will receive a one-month free hosting in CYBAN Capital Impact (powered by CYTA). The first winner will be given the opportunity to present to business angels  during one of the forums organised by CYBAN.

The Business Idea Competition is one of a series of outreach initiatives led by CEDAR- the pioneering Centre for Entrepreneurship on the island. In the words of Professor Panikkos Poutziouris: “it is our duty to support aspiring entrepreneurs to embark on the launch and development of new innovative ventures as they can open avenues of growth and generate jobs;  we are thrilled with the entrepreneurialism of  next generation enterprisers.”
