Company Law Guest Lecture Series: Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University

17th – 25th November 2021

In enhancing our cooperation with Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Ukraine, Dr. Lida Pitsillidou, Lecturer in Company Law and Corporate Governance and LLB Course Leader at the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus, was invited as a guest lecturer, as part of the online academic mobility programme, to present via Zoom four guest lectures in Company Law to the students, members of staff and Erasmus partners of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

The first two guest lectures, titled ‘Business Structures in the UK’ and ‘Directors’ Duties in the UK’, took place during the week commencing 15th November 2021. The aim of the first two guest lectures was to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the students on the various types of business structures as well as on the responsibility and duties imposed on directors when managing a company in the UK.

Dr. Pitsillidou had the opportunity to present two more guest lectures based on her current research on the issues of reflective loss and multiple derivative actions in the UK. The guest lectures, which took place in the week commencing 22nd November 2021, were titled as ‘Sevilleja v Marex Financial Ltd: The UK Principle of Reflective Loss and Company Creditors’ and ‘Multiple Derivative Actions in the UK: Recent Developments’.

The School of Law of UCLan Cyprus would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University for their kind invitation and thank all the participants who attended the guest lectures.  This marks the continuation of a long partnership between the two Universities with more research and teaching opportunities to come.
