The 4th graduation ceremony of UCLan Cyprus for its 2016 graduates was held on Tuesday 19th July at the state-of-the-art campus of the University in Larnaka. The Ceremony marks the graduation of the Undergraduate Students, who first trusted and chose the University UCLan Cyprus for their studies, the first year of its operation, in 2012.
The extremely impressive and high level academic ceremony was held under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture Prof. Costas Kadis. The Deputy Government Spokesman Mr Victoras Papadopoulos, the Commissioner to the Presidency Mr Fotis Fotiou, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Education Mr Kyriakos Hatziyiannis, the Director of the Higher and Tertiary Education of the Ministry of Education Mrs Despina Martidou Forcier, Parliamentary Members, and well-known local business men and professionals also honoured the graduation ceremony with their presence.
In her greeting, the Rector Prof. Melinda Tan emphasized that «At UCLan Cyprus, we have an agenda which is ambitious, innovative, bold and challenging. It is an agenda that is essential if our University is to continue to thrive and be even more successful. It is an agenda for a world-class modern university». Prof Melinda Tan also emphasized the exceptionally high academic status of all lecturers and referred extensively to the University’s current and new research centres.
The Deputy Government Spokesman Mr Victoras Papadopoulos congratulated all the graduates and UCLan Cyprus for its level of excellence and great progress it has continuously shown, and stressed that «This day marks the first successful completion of great efforts and hard work in the context of UCLan Cyprus’ high standards».
The Chairman of UCLan Cyprus Council, Mr Floros Voniatis, addressing the parents of the graduates, said that “we are thankful that in 2012, our first year of operation, you were the first who trusted the education of your children to us. You believed in our University and today we are very proud that your children hold in their hands two very strong tools, the degree of UCLan Cyprus and the degree of UCLan UK, fully evaluated and recognized not only in Cyprus but also internationally».
During the ceremony, 74 undergraduate and 14 postgraduate students graduated and an additional 14 students were honoured for their high academic achievements, while Mr Nikolay Potapenko was honoured and appointed “Honorary Fellow” of UCLan Cyprus.
UCLan Cyprus operates three Schools: The School of Business and Management, the Law School and the School of Sciences, under which a large variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered. In addition they meet the high quality standards required by the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). Many of our courses are accredited by professional and statutory bodies, ensuring students meet the standards expected of today’s businesses.
Τελετή Αποφοίτησης 2016 Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus
Η 4η Τελετή Αποφοίτησης του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus πραγματοποιήθηκε την Τρίτη 19 Ιουλίου στις υπερσύγχρονες εγκαταστάσεις του Πανεπιστημίου στη Λάρνακα. Η τελετή σηματοδοτεί και την πρώτη αποφοίτηση των Προπτυχιακών Φοιτητών, που εμπιστεύτηκαν και επέλεξαν το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus για την φοίτησή τους, στον πρώτο χρόνο λειτουργίας του το 2012.
Η άκρως εντυπωσιακή και υψηλού ακαδημαϊκού επιπέδου τελετή τελούσε υπό την αιγίδα του Υπουργού Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού Δρ Κώστα Καδή και την τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους, ο Αναπληρωτής Κυβερνητικός Εκπρόσωπος κος Βίκτωρας Παπαδόπουλος, ο Επίτροπος Προεδρίας κος Φώτης Φωτίου, ο Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής Παιδείας της Βουλής κος Κυριάκος Χατζηγιάννης, η Διευθύντρια Ανώτερης και Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης του Υπουργείου Παιδείας κα Δέσποινα Μαρτίδου Φορσιέρ, Βουλευτές, καθώς και μέλη της επιχειρηματικής ζωής του τόπου.
Στο χαιρετισμό της η Πρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου Prof Melinda Tan σημείωσε ότι «η ατζέντα του Πανεπιστημίου είναι φιλόδοξη, καινοτόμος, γενναία και γεμάτη προκλήσεις. Ατζέντα απαραίτητη ώστε το Πανεπιστήμιο να συνεχίζει να διαπρέπει και να είναι ακόμη περισσότερο επιτυχημένο. Πρόκειται για μια ατζέντα ενός σύγχρονου παγκοσμίου επιπέδου Πανεπιστημίου». Δεν παρέλειψε επίσης να υπογραμμίσει το υψηλό ακαδημαϊκό επίπεδο των καθηγητών του Πανεπιστημίου ενώ αναφέρθηκε εκτενώς στις διακρίσεις τους αλλά και τις δραστηριότητες των υφιστάμενων και τη δημιουργία νέων ερευνητικών κέντρων.
Από την πλευρά του ο Αναπληρωτής Κυβερνητικός Εκπρόσωπος κος Βίκτωρας Παπαδόπουλος αφού συνεχάρη όλους του απόφοιτους αλλά και το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus για το επίπεδό του και τη συνεχή πρόοδο του, ανέφερε ότι «η σημερινή μέρα σηματοδοτεί την πρώτη επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση ενός μεγάλου κύκλου προσπαθειών και σκληρής δουλειάς στο πλαίσιο των υψηλών προγραμμάτων του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus».
Τέλος, o Πρόεδρος του Συμβουλίου του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus κος Φλώρος Βωνιάτης απευθυνόμενος προς τους γονείς των αποφοίτων ανέφερε ότι «είμαστε ευγνώμονες που το 2012, την πρώτη χρονιά λειτουργίας μας, ήσασταν πρώτοι που μας εμπιστευτήκατε να προσφέρουμε το αγαθό της ακαδημαϊκής γνώσης στα παιδιά σας. Πιστέψατε στο Πανεπιστήμιό μας και σήμερα είμαστε πολύ περήφανοι που τα παιδιά σας κρατούν στα χέρια τους δύο πολύ ισχυρά εφόδια, το πτυχίο του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus και το πτυχίο του UCLan Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, πλήρως αξιολογημένα και αναγνωρισμένα όχι μόνο στη Κύπρο αλλά και διεθνώς».
Κατά την διάρκεια της τελετής, αποφοίτησαν 74 προπτυχιακοί και 14 μεταπτυχιακοί φοιτητές, ενώ τιμήθηκαν 14 φοιτητές για τις υψηλές επιδόσεις τους, ενώ τιμήθηκε ο Κος Nikolay Potapenko, ο οποίος έχει διοριστεί ως Επίτιμος Μέλος (“Honorary Fellow”) του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus.
Υπενθυμίζεται ότι στο Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus λειτουργούν τρεις Σχολές: η Σχολή Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων, η Σχολή Επιστημών και η Νομική Σχολή, κάτω από τις οποίες προσφέρεται μια ευρεία επιλογή προπτυχιακών και μεταπτυχιακών προγραμμάτων σπουδών. Οι σχολές του Πανεπιστημίου συνεργάζονται με επαγγελματικούς φορείς όχι μόνο της Κύπρου, αλλά και του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, και τα προγράμματα αυτά έχουν τύχει αναγνώρισης από διεθνούς φήμης επαγγελματικά σώματα.
