Module Aims
Aim 1
The aim of this module is to develop students’ critical understanding of topics relating to the impact and consequences of crime from both social psychological and forensic perspectives. Content covers a range of topics relating to how impacts and consequences of crime relate to both individual both victims and society in general.
Module Content
This module investigates the impact and consequences of from both forensic and social psychological perspectives and considers these issues at the individual and the societal level. Lecture material covers a broad range of topics, such as:
1. Male victims of abuse
2. Antisocial behaviour and rioting
3. Hate crime and radicalisation impacts
4. Restorative Justice
5. Impacts of terrorism
6. Impacts of war/mass violence
7. Human Trafficking
8. Fear of crime
9. Developing victim empathy in offenders
10. Psychological trauma and crime

On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:

Material is delivered via lectures and directed reading. Lectures and seminars include sessions to explore and support the skills needed to compete the assessment.

This module is assessed through an examination and a coursework.
