The aim of this module is to provide a reasonably comprehensive introduction to a number of areas of crime and the criminal justice system that psychologists have addressed and sought to understand.

On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:


Describe and discuss how psychological theory, data and practice have informed or influenced a wide range of forensic topics and issues.


Discuss and critically evaluate important issues in forensic psychology.

Teaching Methods

The module consists of lectures and seminars. The lectures highlight the main theoretical and empirical issues and findings and direct the students’ reading. Seminars provide an opportunity to examine topics in more detail.
