Module Content
This module provides an opportunity for you to focus theories and philosophies with either ‘live projects’ or to focus on a significant component of the project within a defined or identified context.
You will start to specialise and focus your practice work in consultation with module tutors and (either):
-Continue to explore through ‘live’ investigations the constraints of accepted creative industrialpractice react to challenging ideas and philosophies.
(or)
-Explore and develop innovative ideas and practices that challenge accepted creative norms withintheir chosen discipline.
Specialist Practice requires you to build and focus on the results of the experiments, research and reflection undertaken in Reflective Practice, Experimental Practice, Research Methodologies and Research in Context. At this point you should have a clear understanding of where you work sits culturally within your own chosen discipline and you are expected to make informed choices about the direction your practice takes.
Diversity and Equality are key elements to be considered as well as social, and cultural practice and the line of enquiry should become a clear theme that runs through all your projects.
You are expected to consult with their tutors and set yourself goals to achieve outcomes that will specialise your practice and build on existing knowledge within your field. The learning agreement will form the framework for these goals and you are expected to write at mid module informal assessment and one at the end to demonstrate you have a clear understanding of your MA Journey and how to develop your line of enquiry through reflection, research and practice.
Students are also expected to identify and disseminate their observations, innovations and designs through presentations to their tutors and other students and keep a more detailed record of this through the reflective diary.
