Module Aims
Aim 1
This module aims to enable students to learn and develop strategies to improve their study skills relating to revision. At the end of the module students will have a basic understanding of how their memory works and will appreciate the importance of memory processes in determining how information is retained. Students will also have an understanding of why some revision methods work better than others.
Module Content
Students will have ‘hands-on’ experience of a range of memory improvement strategies which can aid revision at all levels of university life. For example, students will learn about revision techniques, such as the Method of Loci or using Mind Mapping. Further, students will learn which revision technique suits their style of learning best. The module will include information on psychological memory research and how memory research can be used to develop revision skills.

Teaching Methods
Workshop classes will present students with the chance to learn and subsequently practice a range of memory techniques. This material will be supported with information on the concepts and theories that underpin the techniques, and further opportunities for discussion.
Assessment Methods
This module is assessed through a coursework.
