Seminar Success at UCLan Cyprus: Strategy Implementation with KPIs

On June 12th, UCLan Cyprus hosted a highly successful seminar on Strategy Implementation with the Use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Conducted by our esteemed associate lecturer, Panikos Sardos, the seminar received unanimous praise from all participants, who rated it as excellent in every respect.

The seminar was structured into five comprehensive sections:

Section 1: Understanding Strategy and Business Strategy

This section delved into the concept of strategy, exploring Competitive Advantage (CA) with real-world examples. It included discussions on strategy themes, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), and Critical Success Factors (CSFs).

Section 2: Extracting Strategic Objectives, Metrics, and Projects

Participants learned two approaches to extract strategic objectives, metrics, and projects:

  • Strategy themes and the Balanced Scorecard (BSC)
  • Critical Success Factors (CSFs)

This section also elaborated on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), showcasing several successful implementations.

Section 3: Prioritizing Projects

Four distinct tools for prioritizing projects were introduced, along with guidance on incorporating them into a meaningful Action Plan.

Section 4: The Importance of a Measurement System

The critical importance of having a measurement system was discussed, supported by four pillars: Context, Focus, Integration, and Interoperability. Actions to enhance each pillar were presented in detail.

Section 5: Managerial Actions for Strategy Implementation

This final section focused on how managers can effectively utilize the measurement system. Twelve specific actions were outlined to help managers implement strategy in their daily operations.

Overall, the seminar was an enriching experience, providing valuable insights and practical tools for effective strategy implementation.
