The International Field Trip (IFT) took place at Salzburg,
Austria, during 1-5 May, 2019 and was an initiative led by Dr Panayiotis
Kontakos. Participants included UCLan Cyprus MBAs, MBA Alumni and friends, all
seeking to gain experience-based market insights and explore new development
We all had the opportunity to harmonize themselves with the
Austrian & Bavarian business environment, primarily through visits to two innovative
local companies, namely Stiegl brewery and Hangar-7, but also via management
talks, networking events and cultural experience sessions, such as attending a
piano concert with the well-known pianist Heghine Rapyan.
Stiegl is Austria’s leading private brewery. It is a family
business and the first brewery in Austria to operate a practice organic farming
and a circular economy at the Stiegl Farm Wildshut, Austria’s 1st Brewery Farm.
Hangar-7 hosts a collection of historical airplanes, helicopters
and Formula One racing cars, and serving as home for the Flying Bulls, a
