UCLAN CYPRUS AND THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ENTER INTO A PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT ON THE PROMOTION OF DEMOCRACTIC ENGAGEMENT AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP IN CYPRUS AND EUROPE

As part of their long-lasting cooperation, the European Parliament and the University of Central Lancashire in Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) through its EU-funded Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values CRoLEV have entered into a Partnership Agreement whereby UCLan Cyprus acts as a Communication Partner of the European Parliament. The Partnership is built around the shared understanding and promotion of democratic engagement in the EU and urging European citizens to play an active role in the European Democratic process, including by participating to the 2024 European elections. The objective of the Partnership Agreement is to facilitate collaboration between the European Parliament and the Partner to echo and multiply the impact of the European Parliament’s communication, notably in times of European elections. Communication plans have been designed, shared and are being implemented.

CRoLEV is a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence hosted at the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus and is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme 2021-27, Jean Monnet Actions for the years 2022-2025. The rule of law, democracy, and fundamental rights, jointly some of the fundamental values upon which the Union is built, are currently under threat including in Europe. CRoLEV focuses on the study of the rule of law, and EU values and principles in turbulent times. It seeks to strengthen European studies in the region and disseminate research on the rule of law and European values in Cyprus, neighbouring countries and Europe, building bridges between the EU and its neighbours.
