UCLan Cyprus appointed Network Member of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC)
In its meeting dated 10th July 2025, the Steering Committee of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) agreed to include UCLan Cyprus as a Network Member in the ESDC network.
The ESDC is an autonomous EU body that plays a vital role in supporting the EU’s efforts to promote peace, security, and stability. The ESDC provides training and education in the field of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) in the wider context of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), ensuring that civilian, diplomatic, police and military personnel are fully prepared to adapt to and address existing and emerging security challenges effectively. To that intent, the ESDC operates as a network, bringing together civilian and military institutes, universities, academies, and other organisations working in the fields of security and defence. UCLan Cyprus was previously part of the ESDC Doctoral School and is now a network member.
The structure allows the ESDC to pool resources, share and disseminate best practices, and deliver high-quality training tailored to the diverse needs identified in the realm of CSDP/CFSP. From leadership development and crisis management to orientation courses, cybersecurity, hybrid threats, maritime security and beyond, the ESDC offers a wide range of programmes designed to meet the complex and constantly evolving demands of the modern security environment.
UCLan Cyprus is delighted to join the ESDC and its governance bodies and is eager to work with other network members towards the further development of training and education in the fields of CSDP and CFSP in an advanced and interdisciplinary environment. Through its various Schools that excel in multiple fields of specialization, UCLan Cyprus is well equipped to contribute to current challenges and opportunities in the wider region but also at the Global level.
