UCLan Cyprus is competing once again in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot

The School of Law at UCLan Cyprus is pleased to announce that after a short hiatus, a team of UCLan Cyprus LLB students is competing in the 28th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vienna, Austria). Under the hold of COVID-19, this is the 2nd Virtual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, a noteworthy achievement for the Association for the Organisation and Promotion of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot organising the Moot each year given the numbers involved – over 300 law school teams from different jurisdictions judged by thousands of arbitrators, lawyers and academics from around the world.

The Moot is intended to stimulate the study of international commercial law, especially the legal texts prepared by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and the use of international commercial arbitration to resolve international commercial disputes. The international nature of the Moot is intended to lead participants to interpret the texts of international commercial law in the light of different legal systems and to develop an expertise in advocating a position before an arbitral panel composed of arbitrators from different legal systems. The Moot is designed to be an educational program with many facets in the form of a competition; it is not intended to be a competition with incidental educational benefits. You can find more information on the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot here: https://vismoot.pace.edu/

The 28th UCLan Cyprus Willem C. Vis Moot Team is comprised of (in alphabetical order by surname) Angelina Alyabyeva, Anastasios Andreou, Ali Azarlouyeh, Gloria Christopher Mrindoko, Alexandros Xanalatos and Matheos Zakheos, all LLB students. The Team Coaches are Dr Nevi Agapiou and Dr Despina Christofi. UCLan Cyprus wishes its team and every other team participating in the 28th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Competition the best of luck!
