The School of Sciences at UCLan Cyprus, in collaboration with the Association of Computer Science Teachers, co-organized the final round of the 1st Middle School and the 3rd High School Programming Relay Competition. The events took place on Friday, March 20, and Friday, March 27, 2026, respectively, at the University’s premises in the presence of Secondary Education Inspectors Michalis Farazis and Giannos Ioannou.

During the Programming Relay Competition, each school had the opportunity to participate with a team consisting of two students from each grade. The teams were asked to solve a series of programming challenges based on the curriculum of the BSc (Hons) Computing programme in the corresponding grades of middle and high school. Specifically, each pair of students developed programs to solve a series of problems before passing the “baton” to the pair from the next grade. This is a unique group activity that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and the development of programming and critical thinking skills.

The High School Relay Race final was preceded by District Competitions (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca/Famagusta, Paphos). In the final, held on March 20, 2026, at UCLan Cyprus University, the 12 schools that placed first in the District Competitions competed against each other.
