Η Υπουργός Δικαιοσύνης και Δημοσίας Τάξεως κα Στέφη Δράκου, η Πρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus Kαθ. Ειρήνη Πολυκάρπου, καθώς και η Κοσμήτορας της Νομικής Σχολής Καθ. Στέφανη Λολλέ Σιάηλου, υπέγραψαν στις 5/12/22 Μνημόνιο Συναντίληψης μεταξύ του Υπουργείου Δικαιοσύνης και Δημοσίας Τάξεως και της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, για συνεργασία σε νομικά θέματα.
Σκοπός του μνημονίου είναι η επιστημονική υποστήριξη του έργου του Υπουργείου μέσω νομοπαρασκευαστικής συνδρομής, παροχής εισηγήσεων, ετοιμασίας μελετών και διοργάνωσης σεμιναρίων ή διαλέξεων.
Η Υπουργός Δικαιοσύνης και Δημοσίας Τάξεως δήλωσε την ικανοποίησή της για την υπογραφή του μνημονίου και ευχαρίστησε την Πρύτανη του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus για τη συνεργασία, τονίζοντας τη σημαντικότητα της συμβολής της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας για τη συνεχή αναθεώρηση, εκσυγχρονισμό και επεξεργασία της νομοθεσίας.
«Το Πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus χαιρετίζει αυτή την πρωτοβουλία, καθώς το Μνημόνιο Συναντίληψης με το Υπουργείο Δικαιοσύνης και Δημόσιας Τάξης της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας θα προσφέρει νέες ευκαιρίες για την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ Υπουργείου και Πανεπιστημίου στους τομείς της νομικής εκπαίδευσης, κατάρτισης, έρευνας και καινοτομίας, καθώς και σε άλλες δραστηριότητες αμοιβαίου ενδιαφέροντος» δήλωσε η Πρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus Καθ. Ειρήνη Πολυκάρπου.
Η Κοσμήτορας της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, Καθ. Στέφανη Λολλέ Σιάηλου σχολίασε:
«Αυτό το Μνημόνιο Συναντίληψης το οποίο επισημοποιεί τις καλές σχέσεις μεταξύ του Υπουργείου Δικαιοσύνης και Δημόσιας Τάξης της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, είναι σημαντικό για φοιτητές και αποφοίτους της νομικής, ακαδημαϊκούς, νομικούς και άλλους επαγγελματίες καθώς και για το ευρύ κοινό. Ενισχύει τις δημόσιες σχέσεις σε επίπεδο Υπουργείου, καθώς και την ανταλλαγή εμπειρογνωμοσύνης και βέλτιστων πρακτικών για το συμφέρον της ευρύτερης κοινωνίας, λειτουργώντας ως γέφυρα μεταξύ της δημόσιας διακυβέρνησης και της νομικής εκπαίδευσης σε δημόσιο και ιδιωτικό τομέα.»
Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus
The Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms. Stephie Dracos, the Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Irene Polycarpou and the Head of School of Law, Prof. Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 5 December 2022 marking the formal cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus.
The purpose of the Memorandum is the provision of scientific support in matters related to the Ministry’s work through assistance in law making, expert recommendations, the preparation of comparative studies, and the organisation of seminars, lectures and more generally expert knowledge on themes of common interest.
The Minister of Justice and Public Order expressed her satisfaction with the signing of the Memorandum and thanked the Rector of UCLan Cyprus for the cooperation, emphasising the importance of the contribution by the academic community to the continuous assessment, modernisation and processing of law making.
“UCLan Cyprus welcomes this initiative, as the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus will offer new opportunities for strengthening the cooperation between the Ministry and the University in the fields of law education, training, research and innovation, as well as in other activities of mutual interest” stated the Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Irene Polycarpou.

“This Memorandum of Understanding formalising the good relations between the Ministry of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus and the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus is of importance to law students and graduates, academics, legal and other professionals as well as the general public. It enhances public relations at the Ministry level as well as the exchange of expert knowledge and best practices in the interest of wider society, acting as a bridge between public governance and legal education across the public and private sectors”.
