Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Context-Aware Systems, Self-Adaptive Systems, Mobile Computing, Gamification.

Member of the UCLan Cyprus Council – Academic representative
Co-founder UCLan Cyprus Computing Lab, a research support group for academics and researchers in Computing at UCLan Cyprus.

Throughout my professional and academic career, I have taught the following undergraduate (BSc) modules: Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to Programming with Fortran, Introduction to Programming with Java, Algorithms and Data Structures, Study and Research Skills, Computing Skills, Systems Analysis and Database Design, Mobile Computing, Context-Aware, Pervasive Systems, Parallel Processing and Distributed Systems. At postgraduate level (MSc), I have taught Advanced Topics in Software Engineering and Mobile Application Development.

Research Projects

  • 2014-16: Responsible Research and Innovation in Business and Industry in the Domain of ICT for, Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing – FP7 European Commission; funding totalled: €1,496,992.
  • 2013-17: Member of the Management Committee Autonomous Control for a Reliable Internet of Services (ACROSS), ICT COST Action IC1304 (also leader for STSM’s)
  • 2013: Alumni Small Grants by Cyprus Fulbright Commission. Code Cyprus 2014: Inspiring High school Students to take an interest in Computer Science
  • Researcher on the AsTeRICS project (Jan 2010 – Dec 2012) the scope of which was to develop open and affordable technology for enabling people with motor disabilities to have better access to computing technology.
  • Researcher on the MUSIC-IST project (Oct 2006 – May 2010) the scope of which was to extend the technologies developed in MADAM (below) to ubiquitous computing environments.
  • Researcher on the MADAM-IST project (Sept 2004 – Feb 2007), the goal of which was to research and develop adaptation-enabling middleware for mobile devices.


Recent Professional Outreach

  • Organizer of Code Cyprus, which aims at "Inspiring high school students to take an interest in computer science"
  • Judge at Hack{Cyprus} events (2012-2015), which aim at "Putting Cyprus on the technology map".
