Field trip by the BSc (Hons) Computing students at Wargaming Headquarters

UCLan Cyprus BSc (Hons) Computing students recently visited the Wargaming headquarters in Nicosia for an educational trip and to showcase their recent hands-on project. Our game development students, who are participating in an internship at our in-house ‘Rays and Vectors’ student-led game studio, were tasked by the Wargaming’s Creative Research Team to study the distributed baking process in modern game engines. Over the course of three months, the students applied extensive research, hands-on implementation, testing, and reporting as part of their assessment in the “Agile Professional” module.

During the field trip, the Wargaming staff gave a tour of their facilities and a presentation on the Wargaming Forge educational programs, followed by an interactive quiz game. Our students then presented their research findings and experiments from their internship, leading to a productive discussion.

These activities are in line with the recently established Memorandum of Understanding between UCLan Cyprus and Wargaming, aimed at promoting knowledge sharing, student employability, bridge industry with academia,  and other collaborative efforts. We extend our gratitude to Wargaming for their hospitality and support, and to our student interns for their participation in this joint project.
