On 3rd July 2023, UCLan Cyprus and NetU Consultants Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) joining forces to create a transformative and innovative eco-system that connects the academia with the IT industry. This MoU signifies the commitment shared by both organisations to shape the future leaders of IT, capable of navigating the complexities of the digital age with agility and innovativeness.
At the heart of this MoU lies the vision to create a joint culture of innovation and knowledge transfer. This partnership aims at knowledge sharing, participation in joint research and innovation projects, opportunities for students to work on live industry projects and collaborate with professionals, and on aiding the design of learning curriculum to meet the needs of the IT industry.
The CEO of NetU Consultants Ltd, Mr Demetris Nissiotis, stated the following: “By partnering up with UCLan Cyprus, we demonstrate in practice, our continuous investment in young talent and our commitment to support universities by bridging the gap between academia and industry in terms of skills, knowledge and competencies needed”.
The Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Professor Polycarpou emphasised the importance of this collaboration by stating the following: “UCLan Cyprus welcomes this initiative, as the Memorandum of Understanding with NetU Consultants Ltd will offer new opportunities for strengthening the cooperation of the two organisations in the fields of education, training, research and innovation as well as in other activities of mutual interest.”
Prof Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou, Professor of European Law and Reform, Head of the School of Law and Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values CRoLEV at UCLan Cyprus, stated: “The present MoU with a leader in the field of technologies and digital tools is of much importance to the fields of the rule of law, ethics, integrity and professional conduct across disciplines. The joint focus on Digital Ethics exploring core values in the digital world including around democracy and human rights is an added value for all stakeholders in this collaboration including students, graduates, academics, professionals, the industry and the wider society”.
Dr Louis Nisiotis, the course leader for BSc Computing stated: “This collaboration with NetU Consultants Ltd represents our commitment to excellence in teaching and research, setting the stage for a cooperative alliance that not only helps us to shape and enhance our curriculum, but also equips our students with the necessary skills and practical experience to succeed in the competitive IT world.
