A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients & Friends (PASYKAF) on 9th November 2023 at UCLan Cyprus University Campus. The agreement establishes a strategic framework for joint activities, fostering synergy between academia and society, with a focus on participating in joint research and innovation projects, education and training, and other activities aligned with this objective.
On behalf of UCLan Cyprus University, the MoU was signed by Mr Floros Voniatis, the CEO & Chair of the Council, and on behalf of PASYKAF, by Mr. Nikolas Filippou, the CEO of the non-profit organisation.
Mr. Nikolas Filippou, the CEO of PASYKAF, expressed his enthusiasm, stating” PASYKAF warmly welcomes this initiative. This Agreement opens new prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two organizations. We anticipate a constructive collaboration that will bring about positive impacts in the fields of health, research, and education for the benefit of individuals with cancer experience”.
Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, Mr. Voniatis, the CEO & Chair of the Council of UCLan Cyprus, stated, “The Memorandum of Understanding between UCLan Cyprus and PASYKAF marks the beginning of a promising collaboration that seeks to combine the strengths of academia and the community for the improvement of society. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that will make a positive impact on healthcare, research, and education”.
The Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Professor Polycarpou, emphasised the importance of this collaboration by stating: “UCLan Cyprus welcomes this initiative, as the Memorandum of Understanding with PASYKAF will offer new opportunities for strengthening the cooperation between our two organisations in the fields of education, training, research and innovation as well as in other activities of mutual interest. “

PASYKAF is a voluntary, non-profit, charitable organisation, providing professional health and home palliative care services to cancer patients, as well as prevention programs.

Συμφωνία Στρατηγικής Συνεργασίας υπογράφηκε μεταξύ του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus και του Παγκύπριου Συνδέσμου Καρκινοπαθών και Φίλων (ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ) στις 9 Νοεμβρίου 2023. Η συμφωνία θεσπίζει ένα στρατηγικό πλαίσιο για κοινές δραστηριότητες, προωθώντας τη συνεργασία μεταξύ της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας και της κοινωνίας, με έμφαση στη συμμετοχή σε κοινά έργα έρευνας και καινοτομίας, εκπαίδευσης και κατάρτισης, καθώς και άλλες δραστηριότητες που συνάδουν με αυτόν τον στόχο.
Εκ μέρους του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, η Συμφωνία υπογράφηκε από τον κ. Φλώρο Βονιάτη, Διευθύνοντα Σύμβουλο & Πρόεδρο του Συμβουλίου, και εκ μέρους του ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ, από τον κ. Νικόλα Φιλίππου, Εκτελεστικό Διευθυντή. Παρέστησαν επίσης μέλη της επιστημονικής ομάδας, του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου, καθώς και μέλη της Διεύθυνσης των δύο οργανισμών.
Ο κ. Νικόλας Φιλίππου, Εκτελεστικός Διευθυντής του ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ, εξέφρασε τον ενθουσιασμό του, δηλώνοντας: “Ο ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ χαιρετίζει θερμά αυτή την πρωτοβουλία. Η Συμφωνία αυτή ανοίγει νέες προοπτικές για την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ των δύο οργανισμών. Προσδοκούμε σε μια εποικοδομητική συνεργασία που θα επιφέρει θετικές επιδράσεις στους τομείς της υγείας, της έρευνας και της εκπαίδευσης προς όφελος των ατόμων με εμπειρία καρκίνου”.
Επισημαίνοντας τη σημασία αυτής της συνεργασίας, ο κ. Βονιάτης, Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος & Πρόεδρος του Συμβουλίου του UCLan Cyprus, δήλωσε: “Η Συμφωνία Στρατηγικής Συνεργασίας μεταξύ του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus και του ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ σηματοδοτεί την έναρξη μιας υποσχόμενης συνεργασίας που επιδιώκει να συνδυάσει τα δυνατά στοιχεία της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας και της κοινωνίας για τη βελτίωση της κοινωνίας. Προσβλέπουμε σε μια καρποφόρα συνεργασία που θα έχει θετικό αντίκτυπο στην υγεία, την έρευνα και την εκπαίδευση”.
Η Πρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου UCLan Cyprus, Καθηγήτρια Ειρήνη Πολυκάρπου, υπογράμμισε τη σημασία αυτής της συνεργασίας, δηλώνοντας: “Το UCLan Cyprus καλωσορίζει αυτή την πρωτοβουλία, καθώς η Συμφωνία Στρατηγικής Συνεργασίας με τον ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ θα προσφέρει νέες ευκαιρίες για ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ των δύο οργανισμών στους τομείς της εκπαίδευσης, της κατάρτισης, της έρευνας και της καινοτομίας, καθώς και σε άλλες δραστηριότητες κοινού ενδιαφέροντος.”
