PRESERVERE Training Course on EU Anti-Discrimination Law

The PRESEVERE project is pleased to announce the Training Course on EU Anti-Discrimination Law that will take place on the 9th of October 2023, 10:00-17:00. This 6-hour blended delivery course (at UCLan Cyprus and Online via MS Teams) looks at the relevant EU legal framework on Anti-Discrimination law, the ways in which these laws are enforced nationally and supranationally, and observes ways to enhance the effectiveness of strategic litigation in relevant cases.

This course is relevant for any student or legal professional interested in EU Anti- Discrimination Law.

Programme:

10:00-11:30    Reliance in EU law in domestic courts, institutions and daily practice

11:30-11:40    Coffee Break

11:40-13:40    The provisions of the Racial Equality Directive

13:40-14:20    Lunch BreakLight Lunch will be provided

14:20-15:50    The provisions of the Victims’ Rights Directive

15:50-16:00    Coffee Break

16:00-17:00    EU Discrimination Law – Practical Scenarios

Coffee and snacks will be provided throughout the training and during the breaks.

UCLan Cyprus, through its Law School, is an accredited provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes under the relevant Cyprus Bar Association scheme. This Course is designed for the continuous professional development (CPD) of professionals in Cyprus and internationally.  

CPD points will be available for participation in the whole training.

CERTIFICATION OF ATTENDANCE AND CPD

At the end of the event, the participation of lawyers practising in Cyprus will be certified in accordance with the CPD requirements of the Cyprus Bar Association. For the participation of any lawyer to be certified in this way, he or she must attend the whole event as described above. Within a few working days of the event and upon request, other participants will receive, by email, an electronic Certificate of Participation. Subject to the relevant CPD regulatory rules applicable to them, members of the legal profession internationally may benefit from attending the event.
