School of Law annual lecture and dinner

The School of Law of UCLan Cyprus is happy to announce that its Annual Lecture will take place at 19:00 to 21:30 on Friday 20 March 2020 at the Cleopatra Hotel, Florinis 8, Nicosia.  In keeping with tradition, the Annual Lecture will be followed by a three-course dinner with wine.

The title of the Annual Lecture will be ‘The European Union and its interaction with its Member States’.  Our Distinguished Guest Speaker will be Mrs Androula Vassiliou, First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus (1988-1993), Member of the House of Representatives (1996-2006) and European Commissioner (2008-2014).

Introducing our Guest Speaker is Dr. Erato Kozakou-Markoullis, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Honorary Fellow of the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus

The Annual Lecture will be open to students, academics, alumni of UCLan Cyprus, members of the judiciary, members of the legal profession, law enforcement officers, other public servants, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international bodies, members of civil society organisations and any other persons interested in attending.

The Annual Lecture is being organised by the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus. Subject to the professional background of each attendee, attendance may contribute to their formal or informal Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Personal Development (PD) or other self-managed learning or development needs.  Subject to the consent of the Cyprus Bar Association, 1 CPD point will be available.

The Annual Lecture will be dedicated to the hardship fund for students at the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus who are in need of financial support. Accordingly, donations by any guests will be most welcome.

The dress code is specified as ‘lounge suits; cocktail dresses’.

In the meantime, if you wish to pre-book a place at 40 euros per person, to declare any dietary requirements and to reserve a place on the coach taking attendees from UCLan Cyprus to the Cleopatra Hotel and back again, please contact Mrs Melanie Kafataris by email to [email protected] or telephone number 24 69 40 48.
