Top-ranked Master’s in Law (LLM) to be offered in Cyprus

The Law School at UCLan Cyprus is delighted to announce the commencement of its Master of Laws programme (LLM) in January 2013. UCLan Cyprus opened the doors to its multi-million Euro and digitally-driven campus in Pyla (Larnaka) in October 2012. The Law School is already successfully running the first year of its Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, accredited by the Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) of England and Wales. With this prestigious accreditation, the LLB at UCLan Cyprus is recognised as a qualifying law degree, providing its Law graduates with exactly the same degree in quality as a Law graduate from any university in England and Wales. The programme is delivered in partnership with the Lancashire Law School at UCLan UK. UCLan is ranked within the Top 200 Elite Universities of the world for the subject Law (QS World Rankings 2012).

The LLM at UCLan Cyprus has been designed to satisfy the specific needs of Cyprus as an emerging regional commercial hub within the European Union. The modules available will offer students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and expertise in areas such as the EU internal market, EU commercial law, EU banking and financial services regulation, international trade and economic development, both private and public international law (including human rights) and intellectual property law. Non-Law graduates may be admitted to the programme, as their studies are supported through the provision of a Foundations of Law module. Students will conclude their studies by writing a 15,000 word dissertation on a subject of their choice. This will provide a perfect platform for those who wish to further their future research or career by undertaking a PhD in Law.

Dr. Tim Potier, Head of the Law School at UCLan Cyprus believes the LLM at UCLan Cyprus will provide the benchmark for the island. He said: “A postgraduate qualification in Law is recognised the world over as an important tool in maximising a person’s job prospects, earnings potential and continuing professional development. The Law School at UCLan Cyprus is already bringing to the island the quality and standard of education and research that has made UCLan one of the top-ranked Law Schools in the world. The library and IT resources available for students are vital at any stage of their higher education, particularly though at the Masters’ level. Only at UCLan Cyprus will students be able to pursue world-class research. These are very exciting times for our University.”

Tuition Fees

UCLan Cyprus believes that education is a key to unlocking future career success, and that investment in education is important for the success of both individuals and the country’s economy. All postgraduate programmes receive 10% reduction off their existing tuition fees of €10,500; now offered at €9,450.

Moreover, students who are eligible for the Cyprus Government grant can apply for funding up to €3,417 per year.
